About the artist
Branden Desormeau is a Montreal-based photographer and visual artist whose practice navigates between digital and film photography. Drawing from his art history background at Concordia University, his work revolves around aesthetic and formal questions: how light behaves, how textures reveal themselves, and how each medium influences the feeling an image can convey.
Through a sensitive and thoughtful approach, Branden views analog and digital as two distinct languages. Each process becomes a conceptual and emotional tool, chosen based on the project's intent, allowing him to develop images that are tactile, atmospheric, and deeply rooted in a coherent artistic direction.
His work often explores the intersections between documentation, visual experimentation, and contemporary culture, with a particular focus on composition, materiality, and the rhythm of the image.
Throughout his practice, Branden has collaborated with various cultural organizations and brands, including SSENSE, M.A.D. Festival, and Concordi’Art.
